benzoyl-peroxide is an antimicrobial agent for topical use. It has an antimicrobial effect. This medication is active against gram-positive bacteria: Propionibacterium, Staphylococcus epidermidis.
benzoyl-peroxide has keratolytic action, improves tissue oxygenation, the process of granulation of ulcers of the lower extremities. This medicine reduces fat sebaceous glands of skin.
benzoyl-peroxide reduces the content of lipids and fatty acids, it has moderate desquamative effect reducing the appearance of comedones and benzoyl-peroxide.
For topical use benzoyl-peroxide is practically not absorbed. A small amount of this drug is absorbed by the skin. benzoyl-peroxide metabolized to form benzoic acid. benzoyl-peroxide excreted by the kidneys in the form of benzoate.
