Ozapin uses

Ozapin information

This medication is a well-known drug used for the corrective treatment of neuro-psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia. Ozapin is also used for correcting mental disorders like acute mania or bipolar disorder, to be specific. This drug can also be coupled up with both divalproex and lithium, for combination therapy. Ozapin is a nascent member of the anti-psychotic group of drugs that affects the human psyche. Already an established choice of physicians and sufferers, Ozapin balances the chemicals naturally found in human brain to stabilize the agonizing symptoms of a schizophrenic. The popularity of this drug has increased in the recent times due to its better and faster actions in controlling and lessening symptoms like delusions, apathy, hallucinations, social alienation over traditional anti-psychotics drugs. Ozapin, is however, effective in treating other disorders as well.

Ozapin warnings

It is always advisable to consult your physician before taking the drug. Special care needs to be taken if you have problems pertaining to the liver or heart. Also ask your doctor whether it will be judicious or not to take this drug if you have chronic diseases like epilepsy, diabetes, enlarged prostrate, glaucoma or phenylketonuria syndromes. Listed in category C of FDA pregnancy, it is difficult to say for sure whether this drug is safe during pregnancy or not. So it is always better to consult a physician if anyone wants to use this drug during pre natal or breast-feeding stage.

Because of its nerve soothing factors, Ozapin sometimes may cause dizziness and hamper judgment, thinking, and motor skills. It can also interfere with body temperature regulation. So it is better to be very careful while driving. New users of Ozapin may experience a condition called Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome. The normally found symptoms of this condition are high fever, muscle rigidity, irregular pulse or blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, excessive perspiration, and changes in heart rhythm. Don't delay to see a doctor if any of these symptoms appear. Use of Ozapin in case of elderly women involves a risk of developing Tardive dyskinesia. This condition involves slow, rhythmical, involuntary movements. This problem, though more found in women, also surfaces in older adults. The use of this drug should be immediately stopped if any such symptom appears. Ozapin is also not advisable for children having phenylketonuria syndrome.

Ozapin may not work in harmony if you are already using any of the following drugs:

Carbamazepine

Fluvoxamine (Luvox)

Levodopa (Sinemet, Larodopa, Atamet, Stalevo)

Selegiline (Eldepryl)

Pramipexole (Mirapex)

Ropinirole (Requip)
